In The Heights – Heat, Humor, Hope, And So Much More
I had the opportunity to attend an advanced screening of In the Heights last week at the Lincoln Square Theater in NYC and could not have picked a better film for my return to in-person movie theater viewing! It is truly one of the best modern musical film adaptations that I have ever seen. The songs, the choreography, the City sights, and the acting… ALL of it made me feel like I was smack dab in the middle of the most festive street party with MY neighbors! You can literally FEEL this movie and it’s electricity (or lack thereof as you see the characters experience a blackout in the height of the summer heat).

I am a huge, and I mean HUGE fan, of both Lin-Manuel Miranda and Anthony Ramos from their performances Broadway’s Hamilton as well as movies and TV shows I’ve seen them in. Truth be told, I would be happy to watch them recite the phone book if given the chance so I knew that I would enjoy In The Heights. What I didn’t expect was how much I would fall in love with the characters and community that exploded on to the screen with their heat, humor, and hopes.  head to the theater  IN THE HEIGHTS opens in theaters and on HBO Max today so do yourself a favor, invite yourself to the party and SEE THIS MOVIE as soon as you can!!

“The creator of “Hamilton” and the director of “Crazy Rich Asians” invite you to the event of the summer, where the streets are made of music and little dreams become big… “In the Heights.”

Lights up on Washington Heights…The scent of a cafecito caliente hangs in the air just outside of the 181st Street subway stop, where a kaleidoscope of dreams rallies this vibrant and tight-knit community. At the intersection of it all is the likeable, magnetic bodega owner Usnavi (Anthony Ramos), who saves every penny from his daily grind as he hopes, imagines and sings about a better life.

“In the Heights” fuses Lin-Manuel Miranda’s kinetic music and lyrics with director Jon M. Chu’s lively and authentic eye for storytelling to capture a world very much of its place, but universal in its experience.

“In the Heights” stars Anthony Ramos (“A Star is Born,” Broadway’s “Hamilton”), Corey Hawkins (“Straight Outta Compton,” “BlacKkKlansman”), singer/songwriter Leslie Grace, Melissa Barrera (TV’s “Vida”), Olga Merediz (Broadway’s “In the Heights”), Daphne Rubin-Vega (Broadway’s “Rent”), Gregory Diaz IV (Broadway’s “Matilda the Musical”), Stephanie Beatriz (TV’s “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”), Dascha Polanco (TV’s “Orange is the New Black”) and Jimmy Smits (the “Star Wars” films).

“In the Heights” was filmed in New York, primarily on location in the dynamic community of Washington Heights. It will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.
