Southwest Airlines Invites You To Celebrate Shark Week With Your Family! #SharksTakeFlight

What do Southwest Airline and Sharks have in common?… A lot actually! Southwest Airlines and the Discovery Channel  have teamed up to take Shark Week to “new heights”! This summer, a Shark Week-themed plane will take to the skies as Southwest offers an exclusive preview of one of Shark Week’s “fin-nomenal” episodes. Not only that, Southwest and the Discovery Channel want to send a family of four on a vacation in Puerto Vallarta Mexico with the Dare to Dive sweepstakes! Interested in entering? Visit Southwest.com/sharkweek for your chance to dive into the fin…I mean fun!

I had the opportunity to get a sneak peek of the Shark Week episode at an event hosted by Southwest Airlines in NYC at the Southwest Porch in Bryant Park.  Let me just say this (because I’ve always wanted to) … “you’re gonna need a bigger boat” because Shark Week is going to be “packed to the gills” with lots of “fin-tastic” shark footage and information. (okay…#sorrynotsorry…I just can’t stop with the shark references) Chompie, Shark Week ‘s official mascot, stopped by for some photos and fin bumps throughout the night and even had a seat in the crowd to enjoy the show. I’m guessing he felt a little like a fish out of water though….yes, I went there again.bryant park

Shark Envelope Snack Holder:

Supplies:
Legal Size Envelope
Gray Metallic Magic Marker
Stick-on Googly Eyes
Scissors
3 – 2in. pieces of white yarn
White felt
Tacky glue

Directions:
-Completely color one side of envelope with gray metallic marker
-Cut triangle shape out of left side of envelope for the Shark mouth
-Take the scrap piece of triangle and use it as a template to cut a triangle shape out of the felt
-Attach felt triangle to the back side of the envelope with tacky glue to replace piece that was cut out
-Cut into the felt to make jagged teeth
-Attach googly eye
-Attach the 3 pieces of yarn to the center of the envelope with tacky glue to make “gills”

**Be sure to leave the mouth of the shark open and glue the envelope shut. You can use the shark to hold popcorn or goldfish crackers**

I love the Southwest Shark Week airplane! How cool is that? I will definitely have to make some the Shark Snack Envelopes with the kids, I know they will get a kick out of it.

These are cute craft ideas. I don’t really do much for Shark Week. I do like the plane wrap.

How fun! I don’t think we’ve ever celebrated shark week before! I have a few boys who are obsessed with sharks though so this would be such a thrill for them!

We love Shark Week! I love that Southwest Airlines is promoting Shark Week. I love learning about the different sharks and watching footage of them in their natural habitats!

One of my most fav movie lines is “you’re gonna need a bigger boat”. LOL I say it all the time. Living in Florida we see our daily news reports about the sharks in the area beaches and several shark bites. That event looked like so much fun!! Sorry I missed that.

Very interesting. I’ve been a shark diver for 25 years (sheesh time flies LOL) and I’ve been out to Isla de Guadalupe, Mexico with the Great Whites…It’s AMAZING. Cool to know Southwest is taking part in such an educational event!
